A day of glamour at Ascot with Aaron Kwok, Longines ambassador of Elegance
St-Imier / Ascot, 14 June 2011 – For the fifth consecutive year, Longines is delighted to have been the Official Timekeeper for this esteemed event. This year the Swiss watchmaker, whose slogan is “Elegance is an attitude”, was also an associate sponsor of the Royal Ascot Fashion Show that took place in the Bessborough restaurant. Aaron Kwok, one of the most popular artists in Asia and the brand’s Ambassador of Elegance, was in Ascot on Tuesday 14th June.

Royal Ascot week is considered worldwide to be one of the most prestigious sporting events of all time, combining tradition and high performance for 300 years. In 2011, the luxury watchmaker will continue its role as the Official Timekeeper of the flat race season at Ascot, including Royal Ascot, ensuring technological precision and elegance synonymous with both brands.
Longines has almost a century of experience in equestrian sport, gained in every corner of the world. The brand has chosen to support equestrian sports because it demands concentration, precision and experience. Furthermore, equestrian sport transmits a certain style and elegance; these are the values which form the very foundation of Longines’ watchmaking tradition and philosophy.

This year, Royal Ascot has been an even more elegant affair with the attendance of Longines Ambassador Aaron Kwok, who is passionate of equestrian sport. It is his first visit to the prestigious race course. Aaron has led the style stakes in the Bessborough restaurant where the Fashion Show took place; with a distinctly British theme this year the line up of award-winners includes: The Grand Dame of British fashion and three times British Designer of the Year, Vivienne Westwood; world celebrated milliner, Stephen Jones, the recent recipient of a lifetime achievement award at the British Fashion Awards; and the esteemed British fashion house that specialises in men’s tailoring, Hardy Amies.

During all day and during the gala dinner organized by Longines the very same evening, Aaron Kwok has had the pleasure to present the official watch of the event, The Longines Column-Wheel Chronograph. This model embodies the precision and beauty of equestrian sports – its stainless steel case houses an exclusive self-winding caliber with a blue column-wheel that can be admired through the transparent case back. This model displays a silvered dial with 13 indexes and offers the chronograph functions, central seconds sweep, 30-minutes and 12-hour counters. A dark brown alligator strap puts the finishing touch to this elegant watch.
